Algarve Sushi chef, Atusi Kohara Junior learned his
profession from a very early age when his grandmother taught
him the secrets of Japanese cuisine that she herself had
learned , growing up in the Saga province of Japan. In 1999
he entered the professional world of Sushi as an auxiliary
Sushi Chef, perfecting his art until he finally achieved the
status of professional Sushi Chef in a 4 Star hotel in Sao
Paulo, Brazil.
In 2005 Atusi joined a catering company in Lisbon, Portugal
and it was not long before he was invited to become Sushi
Chef to the well known Amo-te restaurant in the Algarve,
Portugal. He was soon recruited by the Starwood Group who
placed him in the prestigious Sheraton Algarve hotel. Atusi
was invited to demonstrate the art of Japanese cuisine on
behalf of the Sheraton group in both Kuwait and Algeria, for
which he received the personal thanks of the Executive
Director of Sheraton Pine Cliffs Resort and the Japanese
Ambassador to Algeria. |

Atusi is a member of the Chefs' Association of
Portugal and has demonstrated the art of Sushi and
Sashimi, on behalf of the association, at a workshop
held at the Algarve Hotel School. He also holds a
level 3 Cooking certificate as well a Technical
Director's qualification in Catering and
Hospitality.
In 2010 Atusi opened the Algarve Sushi Restaurant
AKA Exotic Fusion Food Experience which has rapidly
become one of the best restaurants in Albufeira,
Algarve, Portugal. He now looks forward to
demonstrating his expertise to you in its
comfortable surroundings, so next time you are in
